The Future: Smart Mobs

What does the future hold? Bob Johansen and others at the Institute for the Future (www.iftf.org) suggest many possibilities, one of which involves SMART MOBS where pervasive computing connects self-organizing groups (the mob) whose collective power can alter markets, politics, societal culture, or anything else they can agree upon. These people will be bridge building moderates who break the power of DARK MOBS, those polarized extremes whose collective power results in evil. They will share knowledge and ideas, software (the computing cloud is the program), and their lives with one another. Dear friends, you are a part of our smart mob and the future is now.
