Samuel Alexander (ZiJie)

Zi Jie, born May 1, 2010

For those of you who haven't heard, we are going to adopt this
wonderful young man from Inner Mongolia. We plan to name
him Samuel Alexander ZiJie. We got approval to adopt him but
we do not yet have travel plans. We think we will be able to adopt
Sam and Sophie on the same trip.

Perhaps we can go there as early as February.

Your prayers are greatly appreciated and warmly felt.

Magnificat

I can't go, but you can.

The Hope of Christmas

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care...

Yeah, we make our own Christmas ornaments.

Roll the dough and cut them out.

Don't forget the hole for the hanger!

Now it's time to decorate the tree.

How many living creatures does it take to work an iPad?

In a season often fairy dusted with saccharine, cloying distractions, we are reminded that the Jesus who came into the world homeless and vulnerable is also the Christ who comes to each of us in our own places of lowliness and despair. We know this not because of the cradle but because of the cross. God came into a world of violence, fear, and suffering and offered peace, rest, and abundant, eternal life. Christ's resurrection is God's message to us that the worst thing is never the last thing. That is the promise of Easter and the true hope of Christmas.

Preparing for Christmas

Preparing for Christmas is not always the same as
preparing for Christ. Try both this year.
